Dr.Chettiar's Correspondence

letter From Prime Mister INDRA GANDHI

PRIME MINISTER'S HOUSE
New Delhi

        January I0, 1956,

Dear Dr. Alagappa Chettiar,

Thank you very much for your greetings for the New Year.

I have received your letter as well as your telegram. It would have given me great pleasure to come down to preside over the College Day of the Alagappa College for Women, but, as I mentioned in my earlier letter to you, it is not possible for me to undertake such a long trip for just one function. Moreover, my tour programmes are now in the hands of the Secretary of the AICC, who rightly feels that since I have been to the South recently I should now concentrate on the North for a while.

I hope you will excuse me. With all good wishes.

Yours  sincerely,

Sd.. Indira Gandhi
